Bug Sucker
Insect Bite Kit
If you spend time on the water, you already know the drill — you get back to the cabin at 1 a.m., start counting your bites, and wake up looking like a topographic map. The Bug Sucker is a compact vacuum pump kit designed to help your body respond to insect bites and stings fast. Small enough for your tackle box. Simple enough to use solo in the dark.
"How it works" at a glance
Pull the plunger back. Place the cup. Push down — the spring does the rest.
Pull the plunger all the way up first. Place the cup over the bite and push the plunger down — once it reaches the lock point, spring pressure takes over and holds the vacuum automatically. No need to keep pressing. Hold for a minute or two, then release.
Double-chamber pump
More suction than a single-action syringe — no blades or knives needed.
Reusable
Rinse the cups after each use. One kit lasts seasons.
Why we carry this
Because "just tough it out" isn't a strategy on a week in Northern Minnesota
Deer flies. Black flies. Mosquitoes that find you at the dock at 1 a.m. when you're pulling the boat out. If you fish the Northwoods — Leech Lake, Walker Bay, the UP, the Boundary Waters — you know these aren't gentle bites. Some people shrug them off. Some people swell up. Some people end up at the ER.
The idea behind the Bug Sucker is simple: apply suction to the bite site as soon as possible, before the irritant fully spreads into your tissue. For mosquitoes, results are often good even if you catch the bite hours later. For deer fly and black fly bites, sooner is always better. It doesn't replace medical care when you need it — but it can make a meaningful difference in how your skin responds.
Purpose-built for bites & stings
Not a generic first-aid pump — the double-chamber vacuum is tuned for the kind of shallow suction that targets bite and sting sites near the surface of skin.
Solo operation
Pump design (not a syringe) lets you work it with one hand. Useful when you're solo on the water or your other hand isn't cooperating.
Four cup sizes included
Small cups for pinpoint mosquito bites, larger cups for bee/wasp stings or swollen areas. Choose the one that best seats over the site.
Kit comes ready
Includes alcohol prep pads, adhesive bandages, sting care wipes, and a razor for hair removal if needed. Stash it and it's ready when you need it.
Compact case
The whole kit fits in a hard-sided case that slides into a tackle tray, boat bag pocket, first-aid kit, or truck console without taking up real estate.
Reusable season after season
Rinse the cups with soap and water after each use. Replace the alcohol pads and bandages as needed. The pump itself lasts.
Carry it everywhere. Actually.
The whole point of this kit is that it needs to be there when something bites you — which is never convenient. The case is small enough that there's no real reason not to have one in all the spots that matter.
Important — Please Read
The Bug Sucker is a first-aid tool intended to help address the immediate discomfort of insect bites and stings. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If you experience signs of an allergic reaction — including swelling, difficulty breathing, or hives beyond the bite site — seek emergency medical care immediately. If you carry an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) for known allergies, this kit does not replace it. For suspected venomous snake bites, use extraction only as an immediate first step and seek emergency care. Monitor all bites and stings for signs of infection. If you have questions about your specific health situation, consult a medical professional.
How to use it
Select your cup
Pick the suction cup that best covers the bite or sting site. The kit includes four sizes — smaller for pinpoint bites, larger for swollen areas.
Pull the plunger fully back
Before placing the cup, pull the plunger all the way up to prime it. Attach the suction cup that best fits the bite area to the bottom of the pump.
Place cup over the site
Center the cup over the bite or sting. Press it gently against the skin to form a seal before activating the pump.
Push the plunger down to activate
Press the plunger down with your thumb. Once it reaches a certain point, spring pressure takes over and locks the vacuum automatically — you don't have to keep pressing. Hold in place for 1–2 minutes.
Release and clean
Pull the plunger back out gently to release the vacuum. Clean the site with an alcohol prep pad from the kit.
Apply faster for better results
The quicker you apply it after a bite or sting, the better. Mosquitoes can often still be treated hours later — deer fly and black fly bites benefit most from fast action.
When to reach for it
Designed for use on bites and stings near the surface of the skin — works best on extremities and areas outside of muscle mass.
