What's in the Combo & Why It Works
This combo bundles two Doug's compact skirted micro finesse jigs — one 1/16 oz and one 1/8 oz — with a pack of 8 color-matched 3" Hyper Chunk trailers, all in the same colorway. The skirt and trailer are dialed in to work together right out of the bag: the segmented, twin-tail Hyper Chunk adds body, a slower fall, and extra movement without overloading the compact micro head. It's a complete, ready-to-fish finesse setup that eliminates the guesswork of matching colors and sizes yourself.
Finesse / Compact Jig
When/Where: Post-front conditions, clear water, pressured fisheries, and any situation where bass want something smaller and slower than a standard jig. The matched trailer gives the micro head the right amount of bulk without pushing it out of finesse territory.
How: Tie direct to 6–8 lb fluorocarbon or light braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Thread the Hyper Chunk trailer onto the hook and cast past the target, letting the combo fall on semi-slack line. The trailer's twin tails kick and flutter on the fall — let that do the work before you begin the retrieve. Short hops and a slow drag cover most situations.
Why: The color-matched skirt and trailer present as one cohesive profile. Fish see a unified, natural-looking bait rather than a mismatched combination, which matters most in clear water and tough conditions.
Tuning: Use the 1/16 oz when you want the absolute slowest fall — the Hyper Chunk's twin tails stay active all the way down. Step up to the 1/8 oz when you need more bottom contact or are fishing deeper than 8 feet.
Swim Jig
When/Where: Open water, sparse grass, and along wood or rock edges where a slow-rolled presentation draws strikes. The 1/8 oz with the Hyper Chunk trailer is the better choice for swimming — the extra tail action keeps the bait alive at a consistent retrieve speed.
How: Steady retrieve just above the bottom or through the middle of the water column. The Hyper Chunk's segmented twin tails pulse and kick with every rod movement. Occasional pauses let the combo flutter and sink, which often triggers following fish.
Why: The matched color between skirt and trailer creates a seamless baitfish or crawfish silhouette on the move. Nothing looks bolted on — it all reads as one natural package.
