How, where, and why to fish it
Texas Rig (3/8–1 oz)
When & where: Heavy cover—grass, laydowns, reeds, docks; stained or dirty water.
How: Short, accurate pitches. Let it pendulum, then hop or shake to flare claws. Peg the weight in thick cover.
Why this bait: Ribbed body + oversized claws displace water and call fish from cover.
Tuning: If it helicopters, trim 1 rib off the nose; for more stall, downsize weight by one step.
Punch Rig (1–1.5 oz tungsten)
When & where: Mats, hyacinth, cheese, or anything a standard Texas rig won’t penetrate.
How: Drop straight through, pop once to clear strands, then let it fall again. Most bites happen on the initial drop.
Why this bait: Compact head section with flared claws shows a defensive craw posture right under the canopy.

When & where: Rock points, ledges, and transitions.
How: Slow drag with 6–12" pulls; pause on the crown of rocks and at drops.
Why this trailer: Wide claws thump on the pull and hover on the settle to trigger reaction bites.
Carolina Rig (18–36" leader)
When & where: Hard‑bottom flats, shell, sparse grass in 6–20 ft.
How: Slow drag with long pauses; let the craw glide behind the weight.
Why this rig: Covers water and keeps the bait just off bottom with a natural glide.
